Visual Communication Quarterly

Visual Communication Quarterly
http://www.vcquarterly.org/

This peer-reviewed journal focuses on all areas of visual communication from research and theory to creative work. Their coverage is not limited only to journalism. Their understanding of the term visual can include anything from dreams to cognitive theory and from all visual media issues to visual behavior.  They are set out to promote discussion as well as theory building and accept qualitative/quantitave research studies, essays and creative art. This is a good place to look into if your interests have anything to do with visuals.

Here are three articles that caught my attention:

"The burden of visual truth: The role of photojournalism in mediating reality" Julianne H. Newton

"Visual complexity in banner ads:The role of color, photography, and animation" Bruce A. Huhmann

"every edit tells a story Sound and the Visual Frame: a comparative analysis of videotape editor routines in global newsrooms" B. William Silcock
